What's New

May is

National Community Action Month

Every year in May, America's 1,000-member Community Action Agency (CAA) network celebrates National Community Action Month by highlighting the innovative ways Community Action helps people and changes lives and encourages the entire community to advocate on behalf of the 37 million Americans living in poverty.

The Rhode Island Community Action Association comprises the largest, most comprehensive provider network and statewide safety net in the state. For 40 years RI's Community Action Agencies have been there to help strengthen families, open doors to self- sufficiency, and improve our communities. Last year, RI’s eight (8) Community Action Agencies provided services to over 50,000 households, or approximately 10% of the state’s population in over eighty (80) services for infants, teens, adults, families, and seniors, and families across all counties of our state.

Struggling Rhode Islanders enroll their children in our Head Start & child care programs, receive medical and dental assistance in our health and dental centers, request energy assistance to avoid harsh winters, receive food through our extensive food pantries and dining/nutrition programs, receive help in transitioning to employment, obtain housing or shelter assistance, access our adult and youth education programs.

Please join us on May 12th at McCoy Stadium to celebrate Community Action Night.

The Rhode Island Community Action Association and the Pawtucket Red Sox have joined together to celebrate Community Action Month. The Paw Sox will be showing our two new community outreach videos at home games.
